It has come to our attention that processed USGS data (corrected acceleration, velocity, displacement, and response spectra) for the Northridge earthquake were inadvertently released (and subsequently included on the NOAA/NGDC CD-ROM Earthquake Strong Motion dated March, 1996) prior to final approval. While these data may be correct, they were not subject to the usual checks, and therefore should be viewed as preliminary and not offically endorsed by the USGS. As the checking procedures are completed, these data also will be made available through the web page of the USGS National Strong Motion Program.
